A driver guide from Barabara Safaris will warmly join you on arrival or at your hotel to welcome you to Uganda. He/she will help you navigate any airport related issues and then transfer you to your hotel. Today is a day to rest and relax as you recover from jet lag. Depending on your arrival time, your tour guide will discuss available activity options if you're the "hit the ground running" type. These may include cycling, birding, botanical gardens and city tours (among others).
Accommodation: Based on Availability | Meals: Lunch-Dinner | Drive Time: 30mins
Advisable to start the journey early, after breakfast head westwards Uganda to Kibale National Park as we enjoy the beautiful scenery of Uganda and check in at Primate Lodge which is right in the heart of the forest. Kibale is home to a population of over 1,400 chimpanzees and over 20 rare primate species in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary next door. You can enjoy birding in this area as well.
Accommodation: Primate Lodge Kibale | Meals: Breakfast, Lunch - Dinner | Drive Time: 5hrs.
After enjoying an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters for a vital briefing and allocation of the gorilla family before you set off gorilla trekking. Enter the forest trekking through the steep, densely forested hills. Finally coming across the gorillas camouflaged in the vegetation is an inspiring and privileged moment. Tracking in the Bwindi Forest requires stamina and can often take most of the day.
After an early morning breakfast and briefing you’ll begin your guided trek into the forest, following the tracks and sounds until you locate the chimps. Tracking may take 3-5 hours while habituation may take 3/4ths of the entire day.
An evening nature walk in the Bigodi Wetland Sanctuary will blow you away. 20 rare primate species live here. Community trails will give you a glimpse into the indigenous way of life.
Accommodation:Primate Lodge Kibale | Meals: Breakfast & Lunch-Dinner | Drive Time: 30mins.
This is a travel day. However, a game drive in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park will give you a once in a lifetime opportunity to see tree-climbing lions while en route to Bwindi. We’ll pass through the crater lakes, the savanna in Queen Elizabeth, and the dense rain forests of Bwindi.
Accommodation: Mahogani Spring Lodge | Meals: Breakfast & Lunch-Dinner | Drive Time: 4hrs.
Words are not sufficient to describe this experience. We will be waiting to hear if you agree when you receive your certificate at the end of the trek. You will spend an hour within six meters of a gorilla family. The trek could last anywhere from four hours to a day and it's so worth it. You'll have a support team of rangers, trackers, and porters who will help you with your luggage throughout.
Accommodation: Mahogani Spring Lodg | Meals: Breakfast & Lunch-Dinner | Drive Time: 1hour.
This is a more relaxed way to make the 12-hour journey back to Kampala / Entebbe. A stop in Lake Mburo National Park at the half-way mark gives you an opportunity to wind down as you conclude your safari. The park is home to zebra, giraffe, impala, eland, and leopard (among others). You may go on an optional biking safari, horseback safari, or night game drive while in the park. Even relaxing in the pool with a view of the entire park would be spectacular!
Accommodation: Rwakobo Rock Lodge | Meals: Breakfast & Lunch -Dinner | Drive Time: 4hours.
Your highlight today (apart from heading home) is a stop at the equator, where you will make a quick stop for a photo, bathroom break, and brunch or light snack. You should be in Entebbe within 4-5 hours, and therefore we recommend a flight that departs later in the day. You will also have a nice hotel room to freshen up, pack, and weigh your bags before we transfer you to the airport.
Accommodation: recommended on Request | Meals: Breakfast & Lunch | Drive Time: 4-5hours.
Start dates | Solo | 2 people | 3 people | 4 people | 5 people | 6 people |
