6-Days-Kidepo-and-Murchison-Falls-National-Park-Safari

You will enjoy wildlife game drives, community visits, a walk to Sipi Falls and a coffee experience in eastern Uganda and the magnificent Murchison falls.

Your 6-Day ITINERARY

Day 1:Drive to Kapchorwa- Sipi Falls and Coffee Tour

Today we drive to Kapchorwa and proceed to Sipi Falls then go straight to the lodge. In the afternoon, go for the trek through the Sipi Falls. The falls are characterized by 3 spectacular falls along the River Sipi. The region is predominantly panoramic with the view of the unique Karamoja valley. Along this walk, you will have a chance to have a coffee tour where you will learn about coffee and personally experience the processes of coffee growth, drying, and processing locally. The Sipi Falls area, found at the base of Mount Elgon is particularly famous for Bugisu Arabica Coffee produced and grown by the local farmers. Bugisu Arabica only grows at an altitude of between 1,600 and 1,900 meters; it is the main cash crop in the area and genuinely one of the finest coffee in the world. We thereafter return for dinner and your overnight stay at your lodge.

Day 2: Drive to Kidepo Valley National Park

After breakfast, start the drive to Kidepo Valley National Park. The park lies in the rugged, semi-arid valleys between Uganda’s borders with Sudan and Kenya, some 700km from Kampala. Gazetted as a national park in 1962, it has a profusion of big game and hosts over 77 mammal species as well as around 475 bird species. Kidepo is Uganda’s most isolated national park and is also the most magnificent. Kidepo is ranked among Africa’s finest wildernesses.

Day 3: Nature Walk, Game Drive and Community Visit

You will have a morning nature walk in the park and thereafter, have a midmorning game drive. You will have a chance to see lions, leopards, cheetahs, elephants, zebras, giraffes, huge herds of buffalo, warthogs, duikers, Jackson’s hartebeests and hundreds of bird species. Other animals that may be seen roaming around include jackal, Roan antelope, waterbuck, eland, oribi, klipspringer, and lions. The park also boasts of having the highest concentration of birds endemic to Uganda like the ostrich, kori bustard, vulture, pygmy falcon, hornbill, eagle, and more. Later in the afternoon, go for a cultural tour in the Karamajong community. Here you will spend a wonderful evening with the Karamajong people and have an insight into their way of life and beliefs. Later on, you'll return to the lodge.

Day 4: Drive to Murchison Falls National Park

Set of to the legendary Murchison Falls National Park. This park is one of Uganda’s largest conservation areas and boasts of 76 mammal species and 451 bird species that thrive in the open savannah and tropical forests. Enjoy an afternoon game drive in the park if arrive on time or can choose to rest or swimming.

Day 5: Game Drive and Launch Cruise on the Falls

After an early breakfast, proceed for a morning game drive. Drive in the open African savanna in search of lions, leopards, hyenas, buffalo, elephants, Jackson hartebeests, oribis, waterbucks, Uganda kobs, and enjoy spotting various bird species. This is a beautiful drive across the savannah, Borassus palm forest, and grassland down to Lake Albert where the Albert Nile heads north. After lunch, you will head out for the boat trip to the base of Murchison Falls where you will also be able to catch sight of more animals including Hippos and Crocodiles and several water birds, you will enjoy the spectacular falls where the Nile squeezes through a 7-meter gap. We after return to the lodge.

Day 6: Return to Kampala with a stop at Ziwa Rhinos Sanctuary

You will start your journey back to Kampala with an en-route visit to Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary. This is the home to the southern white rhinos and here you will have a walking safari to see the rhinos. Thereafter, proceed to Entebbe International Airport to catch your onward evening flight back home or check at your hotel / home.
